"But know that to serve God is nothing else than to serve your neighbor and do good to [them] in love."
(Martin Luther, On Vocation)
And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’
(Matthew 25:39-40, NRSV)
Almost from the beginning of creation, there has been inequality in the distribution of resources (food, clothing, shelter, etc.). God has called God's people to care for those who are harmed by this inequality by sharing our abundance and ensuring that everyone is cared for. A world where all have their needs met is the shalom that God planned for creation. St. Paul Lutheran Church participate in God's mission through volunteering with & serving several social service agencies within the greater Columbus area.
