Pastor Rebecca Grate has been called to serve at St. Paul as Associate Pastor. She has served for three and a half years as Pastor in the Indiana-Kentucky Synod. Pastor Rebecca graduated from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC after completing a BA in Psychology from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. She has completed five units of hospital chaplaincy in Hershey, PA and Columbia, SC. Pastor Rebecca serves as the Assistant Team Leader for The tAble, one of the ELCA Youth Gathering pre-events for young people living with disabilities.
Pastor Rebecca has a 5-year-old German Shepherd, Finna, who joins her on hikes and road trips. In her spare time, Pastor Rebecca loves to bake, knit and crochet, and visit local breweries with friends.

05/09/2017 - On Monday, May 8, 2017, the Congregation Council of St. Paul Lutheran Church interviewed a candidate for the Office of Associate Pastor. After our meeting, the Council unanimously voted to accept the recommendation of the call committee and forward our candidate to the congregation. The council also voted on a compensation package. This vote was also unanimous. During the last week of May, you will receive information about our candidate, along with the proposed compensation package. Please note that due to confidentiality, the name of our candidate will not appear in this information. On Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 4:00 p.m., you are invited to a Meet and Greet. You will have the opportunity to meet our candidate, ask questions, and join in fellowship. On Sunday, June 4, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., a congregational meeting will be held to vote on calling our candidate as our Associate Pastor. After the first vote, there is a second vote to approve the compensation package. Thank you for your patience throughout the call process. We are excited about the future of St. Paul Lutheran Church! 04/20/2017 - Dear Friends in Christ, The Associate Pastor Call Committee has identified and named a candidate as our Primary Candidate. The Candidate accepted. What does this mean? The candidate's name goes to the Congregation Council. After meeting the candidate, the council will vote to approve. After council approval, the congregation will meet and ask questions of our candidate. Following the "Meet and Greet," a specially called congregational meeting will take place to vote to call this candidate to fill the Office of Associate Pastor. As with any vote for calling a pastor, a two-thirds majority is required to offer a call. The candidate then has thirty days to respond to the call of the congregation. 04/01/2017 - Since our last update, the Call Committee has been hard at work. We have interviewed a potential candidate for the Office of Associate Pastor. This interview went very well and a second interview has been scheduled. We will meet with our candidate on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Please continue to keep the call committee, the process, and the candidate in your prayers. More information will be shared as soon as we are able. 12/07/2010 - The candidate that had an initial interview with the Call Commitee withdrew their name as they were called to another congregation. The Call Committee will continue to work with the Synod to identify additonal candidates.
12/01/2016 - Dear Friends in Christ, This past Tuesday, the Call Committee interviewed a candidate for the position of Associate Pastor. We are encouraged by this interview and have scheduled a second interview for this coming Tuesday, December 6. 10/03/2016 - The candidate that had an initial interview (as communicated on 09/28) for the position of Associate Pastor has withdrawn their name as they have accepted a call in another congregation. We have contacted the synod to check on additional names. Hopefully, we will receive new names sooner than later as anticipated. Please continue to pray for the process of calling an associate pastor, the synod and synod staff, the candidates and the call committee as we discern God's call.
09/28/2016 - We have interviewed a candidate and we are following up with this candidate. We are hopeful that we will receive from the synod more candidates for us to interview. Please keep the Call Committee in your prayers as we proceed through the process of finding a new Associate Pastor.
07/27/2016 - We have received a "Rostered Leader Profile" (RLP) with the strong likelihood of receiving more in the very near future. The Call Committee will begin the process of reviewing the RLP and set up interviews. Thanks for your prayers as we continue this important process!
06/21/2016 - The Call Committee has currently received one candidate from the Bishop's Office. Unfortunately this candidate has decided follow a different path. Pastor Wick, Assistant to the Bishop, is working diligently to find us more candidates. As we all know this is a lengthy process. 04/13/2016 - The Associate Pastor Call Committee met with Pastor Jeff Wick, Assistant to the Bishop of the Southern Ohio Synod on Thursday. We reviewed our submitted Ministry Site Profile. All of the necessary paperwork has been filed with the synod and St. Paul Lutheran Church is now listed in the Interview Stage of the Call Process. The Interview Stage means that we anticipate to receive 3-4 perspective candidate profiles within the next 6-8 weeks for the Committee to review. After the Call Committee meets to review the profiles, face to face interviews will be scheduled with the candidate(s). 03/02/2016 - The Ministry Site Profile for St. Paul Lutheran Church has been submitted and received by the ELCA and the Synod Office. Our Synod staff will look over our profile and after prayerful consideration, potential candidates will be submitted to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Please remember that this part of the process takes some time. Since we are potentially interested in a first call candidate, we also need to wait until candidates are assigned to region and synod. 02/18/2016 - St Paul Ministry Profile was sent to Church Council for review and approval. Once approved, it will be sent to the Southern Ohio Synod by the Call Committee Once our profile is received, the synod will look for candidates that match our needs. 02/08/2016 - Church Council appointed the following eight members to serve on the Call Committee for an Associate Pastor for St Paul. Members of the Call Committee are: Tom Michael, Lori Keyser, Hannah Shively, Allison Michaels, Harold Kruse, Becki Wilke, Steve Baen and Laura Schaller.
01/25/2016 - Church Council Begins To Collect Names Of Those Interested In Being A Part Of Church Council From Individuals Directly Interested. Additional Contact Is Made With Those Who Are Recommended To Church Council To Verify Interest.
01/24/2016 - Congregation Approves Budget For 2016. Separately, The Congregation Approves To Move Forward With Call Process For An Associate Pastor. With Budget And Call Process Approvals, Church Council Is Then Activated To Select Members Of A Call Committee. Those Interested In Being Considered For Church Council For The Call Committee Are Asked To Contact Church Council.
